Chillier weather has arrived this week here on the South Coast, and I am sure you have all noticed how quickly the nights are now drawing in; The X Factor and Strictly are back on our tellies which can only mean one thing – autumn is nearly here, bringing with it hot chocolate, scarves, central heating, and slippers!

The Showcase team are busier than ever, adding a few new courses to our offer. Paediatric First Aid is back up and running, and we have now delivered 2 Safeguarding Level 3 courses to local nurseries which has gone incredibly well. Excitingly, we have also now been awarded funding from the Adult Education Budget (AEB) which allows us to deliver Functional Skills Maths and English up to Level 2 for free! This is available for anyone over the age of 18 (19+) who doesn’t already hold GCSE Maths/English at grade A*-C (or equivalent qualifications). Anyone meeting these criteria is able to be funded for the aims regardless of employment status, which is a fantastic opportunity to offer. Check out our information page to learn more and to test your own eligibility.

Through the AEB we are also able to offer free standalone Childcare qualifications; this is perfect for anyone currently working in a Childcare setting that needs their Diploma at Level 2 or Level 3, but either don’t want to or don’t need to complete the Functional Skills elements. Stricter eligibility criteria applies, but click on our link and you can find out if you’re able to access the funding by answering a few simple questions.

Our Equality and Diversity newsletter this month has a highlighted topic “Scroll Free September”, an initiative from The Royal Society for Public Health to encourage individuals to take a step back from the amount of time spent looking at phones and tablets, in particular social media. It’s been shown that a break from digital media can help to improve sleep patterns and happiness so why not give it a go!

Speaking of social media, Showcase have launched a brand new Facebook Page – since the rebranding in June, we’ve been waiting for the switch over but thought why not bite the bullet and refresh completely! Like us here: https://www.facebook.com/ShowcaseTrainingLtd/.

Apprenticeships have been in the news this month with the BBC reporting that more Scots are “are favouring Apprenticeships over higher education”; with tuition pries rising, places becoming more limited, and the difficulty in finding work following further education, Apprenticeships are becoming an increasingly popular route for individuals of any age to take. Thinking of going down this route? Why not see our vacancies available for Childcare Apprenticeships?

Basepoint Business Centres held their Basepoint Bake Off at the end of August, and Showcase were lucky enough to pick up a couple of prizes! It’s always lovely to see everyone’s homemade creations, and with the big Macmillan Coffee Morning coming up shortly we hope everyone will get involved and help to raise such vital funds.

That’s all for this month so far, but keep in touch with us to hear all our latest news.

Best wishes,

Team Showcase
